“Not only research. The value of scientific infrastructure for economy and society.” This is the title of a roundtable discussion organized by Area Science Park, in collaboration with SiS FVG, as part of Trieste Next, the Festival of Scientific Research. The 12th edition of the festival is being held in Trieste September 22-24, 2023. Economic impact studies show how the return on investment in advanced services and technologies exceeds the value of the investment itself. But how can this impact be calculated? What indicators should be considered? And how can the local productive world benefit from it? These are some of the questions that will be discussed during the meeting: a discussion among economists who are experts on the topic, representatives of the research communities that manage large international scientific infrastructures, and representatives of the territories that host them. The discussion will be joined by Paolo Acunzo, director of activities for the Big Science Business Forum-Trieste 2024, Monique Bossi, Infrastructure manager for the Einstein Telescope Infrastructure Consortium, Massimo Florio, professor of Finance Science at the University of Milan, Caterina Petrillo, president of Area Science Park. The discussion will be introduced and coordinated by Diana Cavalcoli, journalist at Corriere della Sera.

The meeting will be held on Friday, September 22, at 6 p.m. in the Predonzani Room of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Via dell’Orologio, in Trieste.
