The current week is full of events dedicated to the Einstein Telescope project and the Italian candidacy, both locally and nationally.
It begins at Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport, which will host “Scienza in piazza” from 19 to 21 November, now in its fifth edition and aimed especially at schools and families. Most of the first day will be devoted to ET. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Domenico D’Urso (University of Sassari and INFN, scientific coordinator of ET Italy) and Davide Rozza (researcher at the University of Milano-Bicocca and INFN) will present the scientific project and the ongoing studies at the candidate site of Sos Enattos. Starting at 4 p.m., after a lecture by Rozza on cosmic rays, there will be space for “The Non-Conference on ET: A multi-voice conversation on gravitational waves, black holes and literature,” a performance conceived by Gian Nicola Cabizza and Domenico D’Urso, featuring narrators Bianca Lai and Consuelo Pittalis (of the theatre company La Botte e il Cilindro) and directed by Pierpaolo Conconi.
On Thursday, 20 November, the National Institute for Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) will host a workshop at its headquarters in Rome, focused on strengthening the Institute’s contribution to the Italian candidacy to host ET (see the dedicated article for details).
Finally, on Sunday, 23 November at 11:30 a.m., the Malnisio Science Festival will host the event “Exploring the Universe with Gravitational Waves,” which will also address the Einstein Telescope, with contributions from Michele Maggiore (University of Geneva) and Annalisa Allocca (University of Naples “Federico II”).
