This week, two international workshops closely related to the Einstein Telescope project are taking place, both hosted at Sapienza University of Rome.
The first will be held on Monday, February 16, and Tuesday, February 17, at the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering: the workshop “Einstein Telescope (ET) Research Infrastructure: Challenges and Long-Term Sustainability”. The event is organized within the framework of the European project ET-PP (Einstein Telescope Preparatory Phase), in support of the preparatory phase of the Einstein Telescope research infrastructure, which is included in the ESFRI Roadmap.
The workshop brings together researchers, industry professionals, and institutional stakeholders to discuss the main sustainability challenges related to the construction and operation of the Einstein Telescope, with particular attention to the entire life cycle of the infrastructure and to opportunities for collaboration with industry. Key topics include: life cycle sustainability assessment; sustainable transport systems and smart energy; efficient operational strategies; advanced solutions for underground construction; social impact and participatory design; industry engagement; and sustainable procurement practices.
From Wednesday, February 18, to Friday, February 20, the Department of Physics at Sapienza and the Rome 1 Section of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) will host the event “Einstein Telescope Science Workshop for Early Career Researchers”. The meeting will bring together young researchers actively involved in the activities of the Observational Science Board (OSB), the Instrumental Science Board (ISB), and the Site Characterization Board (SCB) of the Einstein Telescope scientific collaboration. The workshop will provide an important opportunity to share ideas and build new collaborations, with dedicated discussion sessions.
