On Monday, June 30, an institutional mission took place in Saxony involving an Italian delegation composed of representatives from the Ministry of University and Research, the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Italian Embassy in Berlin, and the Autonomous Region of Sardinia. The delegation met in Dresden with Sebastian Gemkow, Saxony’s State Minister for Science, as well as with representatives of the German scientific community involved in the Einstein Telescope project, the Deutsches Zentrum für Astrophysik (DZA), and the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY).
The meeting represented an important opportunity for dialogue aimed at strengthening cooperation between Italy and Germany in the field of gravitational wave research, exploring common approaches and framework conditions for a solid partnership in the development and construction of the Einstein Telescope.
Saxony is positioning itself as a future European hub for gravitational wave research. In this context, new prospects are emerging for strategic collaboration between Italy and Germany in the realization of the Einstein Telescope.
