After stopping at the Castle of San Michele in Cagliari and the Centro Polifunzionale in Nuoro, the exhibition “Einstein Telescope: listening to the universe” – produced and curated by the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) and Orientare srl – has finally arrived in Lula, at the heart of the area proposed to host the future gravitational wave observatory, hosted by the MAC Lula (Museum of Contemporary Art Diffused) in the centre of the village.

The exhibition was inaugurated on the afternoon of Friday, July 11. During the event, coordinated by journalist Carlotta Lucato (Telesardegna) and opened by greetings from the MAC Lula curators, Domenico Fumagalli and Mariolina Mannia, the following speakers took the floor: the Sardinia Region’s consultant for the Einstein Telescope project, Raffaele Marras; the Mayor of Lula, Mario Calia; the Commissioner of the Province of Nuoro and Mayor of Bitti, Giuseppe Ciccolini; the President of ANCI Sardinia and Mayor of Fonni, Daniela Falconi; the Director of the Cagliari section of the INFN, Alessandro Cardini; the CEO and Vice President of Orientare, Alessandro D’Ambrosio, and the Scientific Coordinator of Einstein Telescope Italy, Domenico D’Urso.

The exhibition path is structured into several thematic areas, ranging from Albert Einstein’s general relativity, the scientist who more than anyone else shaped the evolution of physics and modern science, to gravitational waves and the vast scientific horizons opened up by their discovery. The core of the exhibition is dedicated to the Einstein Telescope project, with an in-depth look at Italy’s candidacy to host the infrastructure and the scientific activities already underway at the proposed site: the area around the Sos Enattos mine, in the municipality of Lula.

“Einstein Telescope: listening to the universe” is the first exhibition in Italy dedicated to this research project. The exhibition is produced and curated by INFN and Orientare srl, a company that for over 20 years has specialized in managing museum services and organizing art exhibitions for public and private entities throughout the region.

The MAC Lula (Museum of Contemporary Art Diffused) aims to preserve, promote, and share with the public contemporary artworks by national and international artists. The museum also seeks to contribute to the tourism development of Lula and neighboring towns through exhibitions and various cultural activities that engage the local area, thereby enriching the study and education of cultural and artistic disciplines.

The exhibition will remain open until Sunday, September 21, with the following opening days and hours: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Admission is free.
