On Friday, September 26, the world of research returns to center stage all across Europe, on the occasion of the Researchers’ Night. As in previous years, the Einstein Telescope (ET) will play a leading role in several events in Sardinia, particularly within the framework of the Sharper project, supported by the European Commission. The program kicks off on Wednesday, September 24 in Nuoro with the pre-event “Ten years of gravitational waves: from the first observation to the challenges of the Einstein Telescope”, a dialogue between Pia Astone (research director at INFN Rome) and Alessandro Cardini (director of INFN Cagliari); the event will take place at 7:00 p.m. at Casa Ruiu, Via Grazia Deledda 48.
On Friday 26 at 4:30 p.m., at the Tavolara Pavilion in Sassari, Luca Cardello (University of Sassari) will illustrate the contribution of geology to the Italian candidacy of the Sos Enattos site and the challenges of hosting ET in the Sardinian underground.
At the same time in Cagliari, at the cultural center La Vetreria, from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., it will be possible to meet researchers from the ET project at a dedicated stand. In addition, at 9:00 p.m., also at La Vetreria, Matteo Serra (ET Italy communication) and Michele Ladu (Sardinian language and culture service of the autonomous region of Sardinia) will talk about the initiative of the translation of the ET Italia website into Sardinian in the talk “Einstein Telescope speaks Sardinian”.
Finally, throughout the week, numerous events will take place all over Italy to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the discovery of gravitational waves, which occurs precisely these days. At this link you can find the full programs of the events planned, within the various national projects that organize the European Researchers’ Night.
