On Wednesday, October 23rd, the Regional Government of Sardinia approved the directive for the signing of an agreement between the Sardinia Region and institutional and territorial partners, aimed at creating a multi-level governance structure to support and promote the Sos Enattos candidacy to host the Einstein Telescope. Specifically, the agreement involves the establishment of a project team to oversee the authorization process, a steering committee that will include local authorities and production sectors to define the territorial development plan, and a promotional committee for Sardinia, involving universities and research institutions. Moreover, the Region commits to signing a program agreement with the municipalities of the candidate area, the capital cities, unions of municipalities, and involved mountain communities.

“From October 28th to 30th, we will host the G7 Science and Technology Conference in Su Gologone, in the Nuoro area. This international event will focus on the impact of research infrastructures. It is no coincidence that this topic is being discussed in Sardinia, particularly in this region. It signals a growing attention towards the candidacy of the Sos Enattos site to host the Einstein Telescope”, emphasized the President of the Region, Alessandra Todde. “As the Sardinia Region, we are at the forefront of this sector: we have already allocated funds to co-finance the construction of a new research center in place of the former RIMISA warehouse, also at Sos Enattos. The entire Sardinia region is applying to host the Einstein Telescope, and we want to do so with the constant involvement of local communities, not only for the construction of the facility itself but also for all activities related to territorial development, such as: road infrastructure, school and healthcare facilities, establishment of international schools, workforce training, targeted policies for production facilities, and plans for hospitality”.
